Refund and Cancellation Policy
Cancelled Course
A full credit will be issued if the course is cancelled by Durham Continuing Education. The Durham District School Board reserves the right to close a class. If a class is closed or fails to start because the minimum number of registrants is not achieved, every effort will be made to accommodate students in a similar class in another school.
Withdrawal
All request for refunds must be received in writing by Durham Continuing Education, Main Office, 120 Centre St. S., Oshawa, Ontario L1H 4A3. All fees will be refunded by cheque. Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for processing of a refund. There will be NO CASH REFUNDS.
- Notify the teacher /office of the accident as soon as possible;
- Complete a student accident report within 24 hours of the accident.
- If you are injured during any school activity or on school property, be sure to notify your course instructor or the secretary in the main office. A student accident report should be completed and filed within 24 hours of the incident. Accident report forms are available in the main office.
PLEASE NOTE: THE OFFICE STAFF CAN NOT SUPPLY TYLENOL, ASPIRIN OR OTHER MEDICATIONS TO STUDENTS.

Administering First Aid
The following procedure is to be followed by all individuals who may be required to handle blood (and other fluids) when administering first aid:
Disposable gloves must be worn.
All blood/body fluids should be washed off in hot soapy water.
If blood/body fluids come into contact with an open sore, wash the area immediately in hot, soapy water.
Soiled articles should be placed in a plastic bag.
Careful hand washing is an effective and reliable precaution against transmission of disease.
Clean up of Blood/Body Fluids
Disposable gloves are to be worn.
Surfaces and objects that become soiled must be immediately washed with hot, soapy water and disinfected where possible.
All disposable materials utilized in the clean up (paper towels, dusters, first aid dressings, etc.) are to be placed in a plastic garbage bag, sealed and disposed of appropriately. It should be emphasized that careful hand washing is an effective and reliable precaution for all individuals having any contact with blood/body fluids.
Emergency Administration of Medication, First Aid & Anaphylaxis
Students should be aware that it is their responsibility to inform the school about the need for the emergency administration of medication by injection during school hours. It is the student's responsibility to provide the following:
- physician's instruction for administering medication by injection;
- injection kit properly maintained and up-to-date.
An anaphylactic reaction is an allergy to such things as peanuts, nuts, eggs, milk, shellfish, fish, bee stings, medications and exercise, so severe that death can occur within minutes without the administration of injected adrenaline (EpiPen or Anakit).

- The photocopiers are for staff use only. Students may not use the office photocopiers. THE DURHAM DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT BY USERS OF SCHOOL PHOTOCOPIERS.
- Office telephones - Individuals may not use the office phones for school or personal business.
- Messages - Under normal circumstances we do not accept phone messages for students. If family or friends need to contact you in an emergency, please be sure they have a list of your classes and their times. Please ask family and friends to call only when matters are of an urgent nature. To protect your privacy and ensure student safety, the office staff will not give any visitor the number of a classroom where you can be located.
